This week was the kick off of youth soccer and Nate's first exposure to the game. After buying shorts, shirts, socks, shin guards and going to three stores to find a pair of cleats that Nate liked he had his first practice Thursday. It was a riot. There are 18 kids on his team. They are all 5 and most of them have NEVER played before. We have three brave and very patient coaches who did a couple little drills with them and then jumped right into a scrimmage. There are no goalies at this age nor do they keep score. The goal is to have a good time and learn a few basics.
This morning was the first game. We played the yellow team. Because the teams have so many players they split the team into to two and have two games going at the same time so all the kids get a lot of playing time. There were several goals - sometimes even in the correct goal! Nate enjoyed it and made a couple new friends. Here are some photos from this morning.
