Five days of birthday

Nate turned five this past week. Since it was a school day, we have had several days of celebrating. The celebration started Wednesday at school with cupcakes. On Friday, his dad (Dave) arrived for the weekend celebration. This was the first year we let Nate choose a restaurant for his special birthday dinner. He chose this great place in Cambridge (Fire and Ice), not necessarily for the food but the atmosphere. For a lack of a better description, it is Benihana - lite. There is one big central grill to take your chosen ingredients to be cooked. Of course there are all sorts of antics provided by the chefs. Nate loved it, and we all had a great time.

As in past years, the birthday cake was paramount to the celebration. This year Nate requested a rocket cake. After much research on the internet and a bit of creative thinking and baking this is what we came up with. Thanks to Dave's amazing frosting ability, it turned out pretty good.

We topped off the birthday celebration with a bowling party. Nate went to a friend's bowling party last year, and since then he has told us that is what he wanted for his fifth birthday. For sanity sake, we invited three of his friends and they had a great time.
Nate is ready to bowl!

Two crazy boys!

Where are all the balls?
Holy Moley!
