Lovin' summer!

Tuesday, June 23 was the official last day of school for Nate. He passed Kindergarten with flying colors, and we all took off for a little vacation in Provincetown. I love Provincetown. It is small, quaint, quirky, loaded with lots of great things to do and eat, and right on the beach. My high school friend Sabrina and her son Landon joined us for Wednesday. The boys had a great time playing together and we all went on a lobster tour. It was a fun trip - just the five of us with Chris the lobster man. We went out in his boat and pulled up 10 traps. We caught 10 lobsters for Chris' restaurant and had to throw back at least 7 because they had eggs on them. One was at least 5 pounds! Of course there we several other treasures in the traps - crabs, sea snails, star fish, sand dollars...

Thursday Sabrina and Landon headed back to Boston and we hit the beach. We had lovely sunny weather - the first in a string of rainy overcast days.

Friday the rainy overcast weather was back, but we still got out to the beach for the sorta sunset.

Saturday we decided to go on a 3 - hour whale watching tour. It was sunny and beautiful on the dock as we loaded onto the boat, but 30 minutes out into the ocean and it was extremely foggy and cold. After 2+ hours of bad weather, Nate was cold and not feeling so well but refusing to take Dramamine and we had only seen the backs of two whales, we were not so excited any more. Suddenly we saw the spout of whale number 3. He was a young humpback whale who was more than willing to entertain us. He swam under our boat and when on the other side, he was flipping his tail in and out of the water. He then rolled over and was slapping the water repeated with his fin. The icing on the cake was the amazing breach he did almost completely out of the water. It was truly amazing and something we will never forget.
